IIT-JAM 2012 DescriptionIndian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for MCA 2012 (IIT JAM), is conducted every-year by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis, for admission into postgraduate level courses, namely, M. Sc., M. Sc .-Ph. d. (Dual degree) and other post B. Sc. Programmes, at the IITs. Candidates are selected on the basis of their marks obtained in the entrance test, for admission into Indian Institutes of Technology in Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee. Various test centers across the country have been allocated for the convenience of the aspirants. The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), established through an Act of Parliament, are prominent institutions of science and engineering education in India.

IIT-JAM 2012 Conducting BodyIITS
IIT-JAM 2012 Eligibility* The candidates must have passed the Bachelor's degree in the subject concerned or related subjects, in which they are seeking admission. * JAM qualified candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs: * Candidates must have secured at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries in all years combined) in the qualifying degree. * There is a relaxation of 5% of marks in case of SC/ST/PD category candidates. At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form.
IIT-JAM 2012 Exam PatternEach Test paper will be of 3 hours duration. * A candidate can appear in either one or two Test Papers, subject to the restrictions imposed by the test schedule. Candidates should ensure that there is no clash of time schedule for the chosen test papers. * Test Papers for Biotechnology and Computer Applications will be fully Objective Type and are to be answered in an Objective Response Sheet (ORS), by darkening appropriate bubbles. * All other Test Papers will be Objective-cum-Subjective Type. In each of these six Test Papers, out of the total marks assigned to the Test Paper, objective and subjective questions will carry weight-age of 30% and 70%, respectively. There will be negative marking for wrong answers to the Objective type questions in all Test Papers.
