TNEA 2011 Description

Admission to the first year B.E/ B.Tech Degree Courses in Tamil Nadu is through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (T.N.E.A) conducted by Anna University, Chennai. The test enable a single window admission process for admission into Engineering and Technology courses in University Departments of Anna Universities, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by the Self Financing Engineering Colleges

TNEA 2011 Eligibility

A pass in the HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average marks of 55.00% in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together. OR A pass in any one of the following HSC (Vocational Stream) with any one of the related subjects namely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry with a minimum average marks of 55.00% OR Any other equivalent qualification with relevant subjects approved by the Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu. Relaxation of marks - Backward Class including Backward Class Muslim (50.00%); MBC & DNC (45.00%); SC/SCA/ST (Mere pass) Vocational Subjects prescribed for B.E. / B. Tech. Degree Admission: Farm Machines and Post Harvest Technology; Building Maintenance; Domestic Electronic Equipment; Textile Technology; Auto Mechanic; Business Machines and Computer Programming; Draughtsman (Civil); Electrical Domestic Appliance, Repairs and Maintenance; Electrical Motor Rewinding; General Machinist; Maintenance & Servicing of Textile Machinery; Electrical Motor Rewinding; Repair and Maintenance of Refrigeration and Air conditioning Equipment; Welding; Fitting; Letter Press Printing; Printing Technology; Composing and Printing Technology; Radio and Television Maintenance and Repair Eligibility for Marine Engineering Programme : The candidate should pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics (P), Chemistry (C), Mathematics (M) and English as a separate subject with a PCM average of not less than 60% for all communities. Further a minimum of 50% in English either at 10th or at 12th standard is required. Other Requirements : (i) Maximum age limit 25 years. (ii) Minimum Height 157 cm. (iii) Minimum Weight 48 Kg. (iv) Normal Colour vision (v) Before selecting the course, the candidate should ensure that they are medically fit for the course. The candidates will be admitted only on production of physical fitness certificate obtained from the Medical Officer authorised by the Director General of Shipping failing which they will lose the admission. For Mining Engineering Programme, only Male Candidates are eligible. Duration : • B.E. / B. Tech. course is of 4 Academic years comprising of 8 semesters • B.E. (Sandwich course) is of 5 Academic years comprising of 10 semesters Sandwich courses in Mechanical Engineering , Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Production Engineering are offered at PSG College of Technology under self-financing scheme. Nationality : Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu only will be considered for admission. However candidates of other states are also eligible under certain conditions. Foreign Nationals are not eligible.
