NERIST, The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology was setup by the Government of India, initially as a project of the North Eastern council, for providing a system of Education to create technical manpower at various levels for the development of the North Eastern Region of the country. NERIST came into existence as a unique institute of its kind in the country having unconventional and innovative academic programmes

NERIST NEE 2011 Conducting Body
The test is conducted by NERIST University, a Government University.
NERIST NEE 2011 Eligibility
- The candidates should have passed metric (10th standard) or an equivalent examination with Science and Mathematics as a subject of study.
- The candidates appearing in qualifying examination or whose results are awaited can also apply.
- The candidate should not be more than 19 years of age as on 1st August of the year of admission. Relaxation of 5 Years and 3 years is there for SC/ST/PH candidates and OBC and female candidates, respectively.
For NEE-II For Engineering and Technology Stream
- The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as a subject of study from a recognized Board.
- The candidate should have passed 10+2 Vocational program in Electronics/ Farm Machinery & Equipment / Electrical / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / Automobile Technology/ Structure & Fabrication Technology/ Computer Science OR NERIST Certificate (E&T).
- Such candidates are only eligible to seek admission in Computer Science and Engineering or in their respective branches.
- For Forestry stream - The candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as a subject of study from a recognized Board. Or, The candidate should have passed 10+2 vocational program in Forestry/ Horticulture or NERIST Certificate in Forestry. * The candidates, who are appearing in the qualifying examination, or are waiting for their results, can also apply. The maximum age of the candidate should be 23 years as on 1st of August of the year of admission. Exemption of 5 Years and 3 years is there for SC/ST/PH candidates and OBC and female candidates, respectively.
For NEE-III
- The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as a subject of study from a recognized Board. Or, The candidate should possess three years diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering or Mechanical engineering or even in their allied branches with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
- The candidates, who are appearing in the final year of qualifying examination or whose results are awaited can also apply.
- The upper age limit of the candidate is fixed as 40 years as on 1st of August of the year of admission. Exemption of 5 Years and 3 years is there for SC/ST/PH candidates and OBC and female candidates, respectively
NERIST NEE 2011 Exam Pattern
NEE-I
The entrance examination consists of single paper of 150 marks. The test paper is divided into four sections containing 125 questions in total. Section I includes 25 questions on Physics of one mark each. Section II includes 25 questions on Chemistry of one mark each. Section III comprises of 25 questions on Biology of one mark each. Section IV comprises of 50 questions on Mathematics, out of which 25 questions are of 1 mark each while 25 questions are of 2 marks each. All the questions are of objective type. The candidates are required to choose the single correct answer. For every wrong answer there is negetive marks. The duration of the entrance examination three hours and will be conducted at various centers located in the eight states of North East.
NEE-II
Three separate question papers are designed for two streams- first is for the candidates, who have passed 10+2 with PCM/PCB/PCMB, while second is for the candidates, who have passed 10+2 Vocational (Technology) and third is for the candidates, who have passed 10+2 Vocational (Forestry). Pattern for first paper The entrance examination is divided into four sections. The candidates aspiring for admission into technology stream have to appear in the first three sections, while the candidates, who aspire to seek admission in forestry stream, have to appear in sections I, II & IV. Section I consist of 35 questions on Physics, out of which 25 questions are of one mark each while 10 questions are of two marks each. Section II consists of 35 questions on Chemistry, out of which 25 questions are of one mark each while 10 questions are of two marks each. Section III consists of 50 questions on Mathematics, out of which 30 questions are of one mark each while 15 questions are of two marks each. Section IV consists of 50 questions on Biology, out of which 30 questions are of one mark each while 15 questions are of two marks each. Pattern for second paper The test paper is divided into two sections- the first section is further divided into three sub-sections- Sub-section I consist of 15 questions on Physics, out of which 10 questions are of one mark each while 5 questions are of two marks each. Sub-section II consist of 15 questions on Chemistry, out of which 10 questions are of one mark each while 5 questions are of two marks each. Sub-section III consists of 20 questions on Mathematics, out of which 10 questions are of one mark each while 10 questions are of two marks each. Section II is also further divided into two sub sections. The first sub-section is common for all vocations/trades while the second sub-section is designed for particular vocation/trade. Sub-section I consists of 25 questions on Common Engineering Sciences, out of which 20 questions are of 1 mark each 5 questions fetches 2 marks each. Sub-section II consists of 35 questions on Vocational subject, out of which 20 questions are of 1 mark each 15 questions fetches 2 marks each. Pattern for third paper The test paper consists of two sections, which are further divided into sub-sections. NEE-I
