If any of us decides to conduct a survey and graphically present the data collected on what kind of games do children play today, there will be a definite skew towards the popularity of video games that are now found on TV in your living room to computers to mobile phones and of course portable gaming devices.

Well how the world has gotten to this point from the entry of video games to they taking over every child's life is a different topic for debate altogether but what is important to note right now is that the world of virtual gaming has grown from a seed to a forest in no time. This world is like a canopy of extreme creativity, continual technological advancement both hardware and software, huge monetary returns and very importantly great consumer demand.

A professional game designer would have to churn out new and innovative ideas in terms of content and rules of a game. The fundamentals of game designing can be applied in every aspect of new game creation be it board games, video games, cards, etc. but it is the video gaming industry that is gaining pace and witnessing a very large scale growth rate.

The reason being it is an arena open to very many new ideas and being a part of virtual world the possibilities of creating something very new and different is larger. Video game designing encompasses many aspects such as game theory, game mechanics, visual arts, multimedia, programming, etc.

For creating a successful game it needs to a have a strong storyline, good graphics and visual effects, well-crafted animation, sound and music that add to the effect and of course skillful programming that will help create a complete multimedia gaming experience.

There are many courses today that concentrate on helping you bring out your creativity in terms commercially viable and popular game designs that could make many kids glued to their gaming devices. And with a sound educational background and a creative bent of mind one can catapult to be the next revolutionary gaming designer - someone who is in great demand both in domestic as well as global market. The games that are extremely popular today are racing, commanding, strategic games, shooting, role playing, etc. Of course it is important to note that these games are not just favourites among children but also very popular among parents and adults too. It is not wrong if I say that the world of games is now going through a paradigm shift and a person who joins this new flow of events can benefit largely with the growth and high budget involvement in this sector.
