It has been rightly said in the movie Lakshya that “the entire country sleeps sound, because they trust a soldier is awake manning his position”. The uniform brings with the need to be honourable protectors and defenders of a nation along with the strong sense of pride.
The adolescent period of any youth is encompassed by a lot of fun, frolic as well as turbulence. Enjoyment arising out of the very age that it is and the turbulence can be traced to the desire to make most of what future has in store. In such a situation when the desire to attain professional success is soaring high giving wings to the dreams of youth in terms of being an armed forces officer can be good way to provide a child a strong, stable and elite career. Channelizing the young minds in the direction of this noble profession can help create a better society.
The fear of any uniformed career for their kids is a very common issue that our country and the global demography face at large. But it is important to know that being a part of this glorious profession is not all surrounded by blood-shed, wars and tears.
The Armed Forces is an umbrella for three arms called Army, Air Force and Navy. Each of them is the limbs of a country. The main motive of having an organized and well-structured is of course defense from external threats and invasions but one must acknowledge that they armed forces has more to offer than just lift a weapon in offence or defense. Today the Armed Forces of India, across the globe are playing a vital role in various humanitarian activities like Peacekeeping, rescue missions and search patrols, support for during disaster – both natural and man-made.
Most importantly the Armed Forces is no longer a male-dominated world, both genders are allowed to participate with similar zeal in the efforts for creating a better future for our nation.
With the entry of new innovations and technology in our lives, the military world is not any where behind in sophistication and growth opportunities. The need of the hour is passionate youth who are willing to be skilled professionals with the onus of shouldering the country’s safety.
The Armed Forces can be joined soon after 10+2 or even after completing graduation and post graduation. A specialized academic background would help take any entry level officer to better levels.
Of course with my close acquaintances with the people in the Armed Forces I must put out that it is not a place for the weak hearted. Only those who have the mettle and determination to face challenges head strong should try their hand at this career which is created to shield and safeguard an entire nation’s safety.
